Nike’s Adapt BB: Super cool Self Lacing sneakers
Nike has taken its latest FitAdapt technology to an altogether higher level by introducing the new Nike Adapt BB shoes. These remain to be iPhone controlled and are self-adjusting shoes primarily meant to cater to basketball sport as evident by the product’s name. Eric Avar, VP & creative director at Nike Innovation stated during the launch that the new version is a natural extension of one’s body. Also present, prominent basketball player, Jayson Tatum Boston Celtics’ small forward, seemed super excited to be the first player to try the sneakers.
Nike + stores are famously known to provide cool technology-driven accessories and this new launch can be easily considered as an upgraded or enhanced version of its Hyper Adapt 1.0 shoes. The Hyper Adapt 1.0 version created news in 2016 as this was Nike’s first multipurpose shoe which had an interesting feature of power lacing.
The newest release has an advanced power lacing system. It offers customized motor which is capable of sensing the tension required for comfortable feet and fit. The player can also adjust the fit during any time of the game. This can be done using the Nike Adapt app available for the smartphones as the sneakers are powered with Bluetooth connectivity. The player can make the desire adjustments with the help of the button on the shoe. As per the shoemaking giant, the underfoot lacing’s strength is sufficiently capable of pulling 32 pounds of force in order to keep the foot secure. There are two LED backlit buttons on the base of the shoes for which the colors can be customized with the feature provided in the app.
Interestingly, the players can easily go for firmware updates for the Fit Adapt technology. These updates will enable the players to sharpen the accuracy and precision of fit.
Supported by 505mAh battery, the new Nike Adapt BB shoes can last between 10-20 days. Furthermore, the shoes can be charged without wire on Nike’s shoe sized Oi – compatible mat which has a USB –C port. The charging will happen within a period of 3 hours. Charging mat, USB –C cable and a wall plug will remain to the part of the package containing the Nike Adapt BB shoes.
As suggested by Nike’s online store, the shipping will begin from 17th February 2019. The price of the shoes is whooping $350 in the United States however still lesser than that of Hyper Adapt 1.0 Version which was available for $ 720.
The recently launched technology driven sneakers come in sizes ranging from Men's 8/Women's 9.5 to 14/15.5.
With the current launch, it looks like that Nike has created a platform for many more revolutionary and technology-driven products to come.Clearly, Nike has its goal clear to play big and become the trendsetter in the shoe market. Let’s see what is in the store in near future. Fingers crossed.
