  • Also used in combination with Apple Pay
Apple has introduced the new Face ID facial recognition system. To create a 3D map of your face, Face ID uses the TrueDepth front- facing camera system. If we talk about the performance cores, it is 25% faster than the A10, while the high-efficiency cores are 70% faster. The iPhone X, which is enabled by the A11 Bionic chip, offers two hours more battery life as compared to the iPhone 7, however, the battery falls short of the battery in the iPhone 7 Plus.

  • Connects emoji with animations, of course
  • Quite accurately mirrors your facial expressions
  • It is an advanced version of a Snapchat mask

A new feature called Animoji is enabled with help of the same 7-megapixel TrueDepth camera that powers Face ID. The 3D emoji are able to mimic your facial expressions and tracks more than 50 facial muscle movements, which can be used in the Messages app.

It is the first new design Apple has launched since 2014 after the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus debuted. With the exclusion of the bezels, the American multinational technology company has been able to pack a 5.8-inch display into a body that's not much bigger than the iPhone 8.

The dimensions of iPhone X

  • Tall - 143.6mm
  • Wide - 70.9mm
  • Thick – 7mm

Comparatively, the dimensions of iPhone 8 Plus

  • Tall - 158.4mm
  • Wide - 78.1mm
  • Thick – 5mm

While the iPhone 8 measures are

  • Tall - 138.4mm
  • Wide - 67.3mm
  • Thick - 7.3mm

As we can observe, the iPhone 10 is smaller than the iPhone 8 Plus but larger than the iPhone 8, however, the thickness of the device is more than both 8 and 8 plus, still, it is comfortable to hold and use with one hand.

The display of the iPhone X melds right into a surgical-grade highly-polished stainless steel frame, which in turn slides into a new glass body for a continued surface from back to front. The glass is more delicate as compared to the aluminum that Apple's been using in the previous models, however, the company believes the glass is more durable.

The iPhone 10 comes in Space Gray and Silver pearlescent finish, thanks to a seven-layer ink process that has allowed precise opacity and hues. An oleophobic coating is added to the glass to easily wipe off the fingerprints and smudges, plus, a reflective optical layer enhances the two colors. The left side of the device has the volume buttons and standard mute switch, while the right side houses an elongated side button that has new functionality to recompense for the exclusion of the Home button.

There's a dual-lens rear camera arranged in a vertical orientation at the back of the iPhone X, the first time in an iPhone. The camera continues to protrude slightly from the body of the iPhone, and between the two lenses, there's a microphone and a quad-LED flash.

The bottom of the device highlights six-speaker holes along with a traditional Lightning port for charging purposes.

It stands up to rain splashes or brief accidental water exposure and can withstand immersion in water up to one meter (3.3 feet) for 30 minutes in laboratory conditions, however, deliberate water exposure should be avoided. Apple recommends that dust and water resistance are not permanent conditions and may decrease as a result of normal wear. Although the iPhone X is marketed as waterproof, Apple's warranty does not cover any kind of water damage to the iOS device, so it's advisable to use caution when exposing the device to liquids.
