2018 is going to witness the next revolutionary innovation in the field of smart devices. Apple HomePod, a wireless high-profile "smart home device" designed by Apple and manufactured by Inventec. It was first showcased at Apple WWDC in June 2017, which the company planned to launch later in the year. But later it re-planned to launch early this year.
With a 6.8 x 5.6 Inches dimension and a gross weight of 2.5 Kgs, the device is an iPhone without a display (syncing it with iPhone). It's a cylindrical speaker, covered by seamless 3D mesh fabric, and supported by an A8 chip (same used in iPhone 6), with 1GB RAM and features built-in Siri support. It will be available in two signature colors, White and Space Grey at a price of USD $349.Use it to play your music, listen to the news headlines, share traffic information, inquire about music artists, band etc. and all this while you walk, rest or work around your home/office.
HomePod serves as a HomeKit hub just like an Apple TV or iPad, so with a HomePod connected, HomeKit devices can be accessed remotely. Siri commands can be used to control all HomeKit-connected smart devices, positioning the HomePod as a centralized home control product. In other words, it's a new age personal assistant to help you.
Although the already launched and popular smart speakers, Google Home and Amazon Echo are there in the market along with other smart speakers to choose from, the Apple admirers are eagerly waiting for the HomePod.
