Fendi, the venerable Italian luxury fashion house, and part of the ever expansive LVMH group, will debut the first ever Fendi Haute Couture collection in July, 2015.
The architect for this collection will be the illustrious Karl Lagerfeld, who has been with the label for over 50 years now. There is something to be said about this man, he is the creative director of Fendi and Chanel and a label that bears his name!
The house of Fendi started as a fur seller, and that is where it gained its major recognition and plaudits, even though a diversification into leather goods, shoes, ready-to-wear, fragrances, and even eyewear and watches, followed later.
Fendi is clearly looking to reinforce its reputation as a globally leading furrier with the planned Haute Fourrure - as the Haute Couture Fur show is being billed. The show will showcase the complete mastery of fur by the only luxury brand that houses a fur atelier, making for exceptional craftsmanship that creates unparalleled fur pieces.
Karl Lagerfeld, now 81, realizes the proposition of the show when he comments “ for me, fur is Fendi, and Fendi is furs, fun furs! Fendi is my Italian version of creativity. The Fendi Haute Fourrure fashion show is the opportunity to stage the Royal Furs of Furs”.
That was the creative side. The business side of the unique show is endorsed by Pietro Beccari, chairman and CEO, when he says, “Haute Fourrure will set a differentiation between Fendi fur and the rest.”
The furs displayed in the Haute Fourrure will not be available in boutiques. Rather, customers can book their orders when the show travels to Fendi’s most valuable markets in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, New York, London and Monaco.
The prices for the upcoming collection have not been decided yet - although the prices of Fendi’s current collections range from 500 Euros ($ 578) to 500,000 Euros ($ 567,585).
